Building a Steel Building and Steel Framed Building-The Difference

The trend of steel buildings is increasing across the globe. This trend originated in America and then spread to Europe. Today, most of the buildings in almost every country have its internal frame made up of steel. The reason for overwhelming usage of steel in the modern construction is the aesthetic and mechanic properties of steel. Steel is widely believed to be a strong element available for building a steel building.

Considering the usage of this material in the constructions, there are two types of buildings: steel framed buildings and steel buildings. Building a steel framed building is a little different from building a steel building. Both have steel incorporated in their designs; although the nature of construction, type of steel, and design of both differs buildings differ in many terms.

Building a steel framed building involves building the internal frame of the structure from steel. The internal frame is made up of steel to support the rest of the structure, which might be made up of concrete or other material. Steel in these structures are actually incorporated in the concretes and beams for utmost support and strength. Building a steel framed building involves utilizing comparatively low grade steel than that of steel buildings; however, the strength and durability of the material is not something to compromise over.

On other hand, building a steel building is much simpler than building steel framed structures. These are metal buildings, which are entirely made up of steel. Building a steel building implies usage of high-grade galvanized steel, which is not merely tough and durable but also resist against corrosion. There are a lot of attributes which are incorporated while building a steel building, which includes portability, strength, durability and attractiveness.

An outlook at Building a Steel Building

Steel buildings have become common nowadays. They have become popular replacements for wooden and block made buildings. Steel buildings are considered better when compared to those buildings made of bricks and wood. The reason is the aesthetic and mechanical properties of steel.

Steel provides better resistance to fire explosions and severe climatic variations. Steel structures are strong and muscular so, they are unbreakable. Steel buildings are simple and easy to maintain with less expenses as compared to that of wooden buildings and are also cheap to install in the initial stage. Considering the popularity of cheap steel buildings, building a steel building could be very interesting.

Building a steel building initiate with cushioning the sand layers on the site. The sand is leveled for the concrete base.  The concrete base is then created. The slabs are integrated into the concrete base. When it dries, the I-beam is then welded to the slabs. The vertical frame is then erected, which is supported by the horizontal frame through welding. After the steel frame is completed, building of steel building then enters into the next phase of its construction which is the putting on the steel sheeting. Building a steel building further involves integrating the exterior cladding, decorating the interior, adjusting the shelves and purlins within the structure, color and painting, and at last cleaning.

Building a steel building is although a simple process but expert advices and assistance is highly recommended due to the sensitive nature of work involved.
